Phoneless Garden: Screen Time

Phoneless Garden is a screen time app that does not block anything.

When you have been on a tracked app longer than you meant to, one calm screen appears and asks a single question: what brings you here?

Then you decide. Close it, or keep going. Closing is always there, and continuing never costs you anything. No passes to spend, no timer to sit through, no lockout to wait out.

HOW IT WORKS

Choose the apps you want to notice. Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, whatever pulls at you.
Set your limit. Fifteen minutes is the default, and you decide how long until the first pause.
When you reach it, the pause appears. If you continue, you pick how long until the next one.

Different days can have different goals. A work day is not a sick day is not a travel day.

WHY THERE IS NO BLOCKING

Most screen time apps work by locking you out, and every lockout teaches you how to get around it. Phoneless Garden does the opposite. It puts one moment of noticing between the reach and the scroll, then leaves the choice with you.

It would rather you put the phone down. It will never make you.

Not all screen time is wasted time. A long call with a friend is not the same as twenty minutes you cannot account for. This app does not pretend to know which is which. It just makes sure you are the one deciding.

SETUP

Phoneless Garden needs Usage Access to see which app is in the foreground. That is the only way an app on Android can know when to pause. It reads nothing else, and nothing leaves your device.
