Bear Repellent Bell App "BearBell"

A "bear bell" app designed to keep bears away. Developed based on the developer's own experience as a hiker, this app continues to evolve with the goal of maintaining an appropriate distance between bears and humans. Background playback is supported, so the sound keeps playing even when your smartphone is in your pocket. Please use it as a companion for outdoor activities such as mountain climbing, hiking, and camping.

App Features
This app features a visually fun and friendly design, including an animation of the bell swaying from side to side. Thanks to background playback support, you can continuously play the bear-repelling sound even while your smartphone is in your pocket or bag. With the new Auto Mode, the app uses GPS to detect when you start walking and rings the bell automatically, stopping when you halt—so you can use it hands-free. In case you encounter a bear, the app is also equipped with a warning sound feature.
In an emergency, the SOS feature notifies your pre-registered emergency contacts. A single tap of the SOS button opens your device's SMS app with a pre-filled message including your current location, so you can quickly let family or friends know your situation. Your sender name is taken automatically from your My Page username.

In addition to the bear bell sound, the app includes a voice announcement feature. Every 10 bell plays, it reads out messages such as "I'm ringing a bear bell as a bear safety measure." You can choose between male and female voices, and the message is fully customizable. The app also includes a custom bell sound feature, letting you ring the bell with your favorite sound—record your own audio or import existing files.

The map display feature (BearBellMap) lets you check bear sightings and bear bell usage records on a map, and post sighting reports. Combined with the location tracking and bear appearance alert features, it supports safer outdoor activities.

While developed primarily for mountain climbing and outdoor use, it can also be used in other situations, such as commuting in areas where bear appearances are a concern, or while doing farm work.

Please note that this app is only one of several supplementary safety measures. We strongly recommend combining it with multiple safety measures, such as carrying bear spray.
