Niar: Proximity Chat

Niar is the anonymous chat for your neighbourhood.

Open the app and talk in real time with the people around you, within about 500 metres. No real name, no email, no sign-up.

HOW IT WORKS
Niar splits the world into small zones. Your phone works out which one you're in and connects you to the chat of your neighbourhood and the ones around it. You type, and your message reaches everyone nearby at that moment. When you open the app, you see the latest messages in the zone.

YOUR PRIVACY, BY DESIGN
• Truly anonymous: we don't ask for your name, email or phone.
• Your exact location NEVER leaves your phone. We only use an approximate zone, the same for the whole neighbourhood: it points to an area, not an address.
• No ads, no trackers, no data selling.

WHAT YOU CAN DO
• Chat in real time with whoever is nearby.
• See how many people are connected in your zone.
• Personalise your zone's background with an image.
• Use the app in 5 languages: English, Spanish, French, German and Chinese.

A SAFE SPACE
We take moderation seriously:
• Automatic filter for offensive language.
• Automatic moderation of uploaded images.
• Report any message or background with a tap.
• Block anyone you don't want to see again.

18+ ONLY
Niar is an open chat with strangers and user-generated content. It is intended for adults.
