User Reviews

Users report that while the Carrier Home app has improved in interface and responsiveness, it suffers from persistent issues syncing reliably with the thermostat and Carrier servers. Common problems include connectivity dropouts, delays updating thermostat settings, time zone and scheduling mismatches, and malfunctioning features like device addition and operational status display. Many users find the app unstable and limited in functionality, leading to frustration and even regret over choosing Carrier. Some praise the progress made and basic features working when connected, but overall the app falls short in reliability and user experience.
Pros
  • App has improved over time and the interface is easier and more intuitive according to some users.
  • When it works, the app provides basic thermostat controls and notifications, as intended.
  • Some users noted the app has improved responsiveness recently and developers seem to listen to feedback.
  • The app supports multiple Carrier HVAC units and integrates notifications for changes.
  • Energy usage tracking in kilowatts is available and occasionally provides useful info.
Cons
  • Frequent connectivity issues with the thermostat and Carrier servers cause the app to show offline or disconnected status.
  • Synchronization problems where the app and thermostat are out of sync, including schedule mismatches and delays updating changes.
  • The app has inconsistent and incorrect reporting of temperature, time, and operational status, making scheduling and control unreliable.
  • Limited app functionality such as no support for multiple users to connect simultaneously and missing Google Home/Alexa integration or loss of previous integrations.
  • Poor app stability with crashes, inability to add devices, long delays in response, and lack of meaningful error handling.

Was notified today of an updated app. I was hopeful that it would correct some bothersome problems. The app does control the thermostat correctly. However the app the consistently reports incorrectly the comfort profile that the thermostat is operating under. Second, sometimes the app reports the current temperature to 1 decimal place and sometimes to no decimal places. While this temp issue is not necessarily important from a utilization standpoint, it does reflect the build quality.

Horrible app. I regret upgrading to the carrier controller due to the poor performance of this app. We paid a lot just to be frustrated. App sometimes won't open. Even when it does, there is a long delay to retrieve current information from the controller or to adjust settings. Sometimes, if I make adjustments from the app, the adjustments never take place on the controller. This removes any sense of security that I would be notified of anything. The app is limited on functionality as well.
