Review summary

Users praise the app for current train schedules and the convenience of mobile ticketing, but frequent complaints focus on rising fees and restrictive ticketing policies, reliability glitches, poor support, and privacy concerns. Overall it’s seen as a useful schedules/ticketing tool, yet pricing, reliability, and user-rights issues significantly hinder the experience.
Pros
  • Up-to-date train schedules and timing information.
  • Convenient in-app ticket purchasing.
  • Central hub for schedules and tickets on your phone.
Cons
  • High fees and surcharges with expiring or restrictive ticketing policies (predatory-feeling pricing).
  • Frequent instability: glitches, crashes, and issues purchasing tickets.
  • Poor customer support and refund processes (unhelpful or rude chat, slow responses).
  • Privacy and account-control concerns (inability to delete account, tracking of usage).
  • Interface/UI problems on certain devices or overall usability issues.

able to open app quickly. would prefer an icon on the phone to open the app rather than going through the Play Store to access the app.

I have no idea how to explain this: but the app stayed live in my hand as I boarded the train and added TWO WEEKDAY PASSES, $100. I tried clicking the refund button and it said I wasn't eligible, no email or phone to contact! this is 6x what I'm supposed to pay for a single ride with no one to help! I want my money back!!

App gave me a warning about a surcharge when I was running for the train and I just got on it before it started moving. The 24 hours expiration date is annoying and causes more issues than solving them. It's better to buy the physical ticket that buying it on the app, and I guess use the app as a last resort so you won't be charged $8 extra

Only New York City MTA could find a way to make an APP LESS convenient than buying a ticket! They will literally charge you $8 for DARING to activate the ticket YOU PRE-PAID after you've gotten on the train (instead of before when train hasn't arrived... sheer stupidity). Well this just solidifies my decision to go back to paper to avoid being penalized very stupidly. The ticket expires and of day so I don't see the point of the fine except GREED. I guess someone has to pay for NYC socialism.

I was able to check timings and buy tickets easily. could be faster in pulling up the ticket. i liked that it showed the track that the train was arriving on at grand central in real time. i really wish we had a rail card/system that covered the entire metro area/state/country, though.

I don't see why a train app needs reviews. But I'm doing this for points. So here we go, the app literally does its job. There's really nothing else to say.Five stars

This app used to be great. I loved being able to buy my ticket on my phone and get on the train without any problems. But after the recent updates, this app has become a complete mess. For some reason, it keeps charging me an extra $8 when I'm not even on the train. It makes absolutely no sense. I've asked MTA employees about it, and they all told me the same thing: "It's going to get better." Well, it's been months, and nothing has changed. The app is still broken, and riders are still dealing
