Wordtern: English Vocabulary

Add your own words and they become flashcards that come back at the right time.

Wordtern is an English vocabulary app built around the words you choose. Type in a word you heard, read or met in class (if it is in the pack, its Turkish meaning fills in for you); it joins the same spaced-repetition schedule as the pack cards. Words are in English, meanings in Turkish.

My own words
• Add a word: the English word, its Turkish meaning and, if you like, an example sentence
• Start typing a word from the pack and its Turkish meaning arrives pre-filled
• Your word is reviewed on a spaced schedule, like every pack card, and comes back when it is due
• Add 20 of your own words for free

A new word on your Home Screen
• The word-of-the-day widget is free for everyone: a new word every day
• Home screen widgets in two sizes: 2x2 and 4x2
• The Add widget screen in the app walks you through putting a widget on your screen
• An optional daily word notification: one word a day

Study with cards
• The front shows the English word, its pronunciation and a speaker button; the back shows the Turkish meaning and an example sentence with its Turkish translation
• Again, Hard, Good, Easy: rate each card with four buttons and Wordtern picks when you see it next
• Pressed the wrong button? Undo your last rating
• Deck: browse by level from A1 to B2, search by English word or Turkish meaning, and save words
• Reading and saving every word is free

Your streak and progress
• A daily streak: a day counts when you have rated enough cards
• Stats: words learned, words in progress, cards due today and card counts for the last 7 and 30 days
• An optional daily study reminder; notifications are sent only if you turn them on

Stays on your phone
• Studying and the widget work without an internet connection; your progress and your own words stay on your device
• Words are in English and meanings in Turkish; the app is in Turkish and English
• The pack's meanings and example sentences were written for Wordtern

What is free, what is Pro
Free: the word-of-the-day widget, studying and reviewing the 300 most common words, 20 of your own words, reading and saving every word, the streak and stats.

Wordtern Pro adds every level from A1 to B2 (about 3,000 words), lifts the limit on your own words, and adds flip, next-card and rating buttons to the widget; the widget shows your own cards. Choose yearly (with a 7-day free trial), monthly or a one-time lifetime purchase. There is no paywall when you first open the app: Pro is shown once when you finish the first setup, and after that only when you tap a Pro feature or look for it in Settings. If you start the yearly trial and allow notifications, Wordtern reminds you two days before it ends.

On your phone
Your study history, saved words and own words stay on your device. Usage statistics and crash reports help us fix bugs and improve the app. They are not linked to your name or an account, and each has its own switch in Settings. Where the law asks for permission, each stays off until you allow it.

Subscription details
Prices are shown in the app before you subscribe and vary by region. Payment is charged to your Google Play account at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. You can cancel at any time in Google Play (profile icon, then Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions); cancel a free trial before it ends and you will not be charged. Lifetime is a one-time purchase and does not renew.
