Pomil Haven

Simulate how heat spreads through plates of copper, glass, steel and more.

Pomil Haven is a heat lab for your phone 📱. Paint a plate from different materials, add hot or cold sources, and watch 👀 the heat spread across it cell by cell.

Pick a built-in specimen or start 🚀 your own. Drag ✋ to paint a material onto the grid. Set the edges to insulated or fixed. Drop up to four probes on the plate to read the temperature of any cell as time ⏱️ passes.

What you can do:
- Run, pause ⏸️, step, reset and undo the simulation
- Change the speed ⚡ of the simulation with a slider
- View the plate as a colour field, as contour lines, or both
- Start 🚀 from nine built-in specimens, such as a copper bar, a glass pane in winter, steel fins in concrete 🧱 and a ring heater
- Get a summary when the plate reaches equilibrium: settle time ⏱️, steps, mean, minimum and maximum temperature, heat flow at each edge and the energy balance ⚖️

Save 💾 and compare ⚖️:
- Save 💾 plates with a name, notes 📝 and an optional photo 📸 of the real part
- Log 📝 each settled run and browse your plates and runs in the archive
- Compare ⚖️ two or three runs side by side with settling curves, temperature traces and heat flow charts 📊

Know 💡 your materials:
- Browse ten materials, including metals, minerals and insulators
- See 👀 conductivity, heat capacity and diffusivity for each one
- Race a material against copper or glass to see 👀 how fast ⚡ heat crosses it
- Add your own custom materials

A short guide inside Pomil Haven explains how heat moves between cells and why ❓ the time ⏱️ step has a limit, with small interactive examples you can try.

Pomil Haven suits students, teachers and anyone curious about heat conduction. Set up a plate, press run, and see 👀 where the heat goes.
