Playing Lava Lane feels a little like hurrying downhill to catch a bus, except the pavement behind you is melting into magma.

You steer a glowing stone core down an obsidian lane while a lava front chases you at 97 % of your own speed. Every slip lets it creep closer, so the whole game is about keeping your line clean and your pace up.

How to play
1. Drag left and right to steer. The core rolls downhill on its own and gathers speed.
2. Watch the lava gauge on the left of the screen; it shows how many metres the front is behind you.
3. Stay off the black cinder crust. It halves your pace and lets the lava gain on you.
4. Aim for the golden draft arrows, which push your pace up by 30 %.
5. Reach the end of the stratum before the lava reaches you.

Progression takes you twelve strata down, from Ash Crust and Pumice Fields through Magma Chamber to The Mantle, each longer and hotter than the one above. Finish with the lava never closer than 8 metres for three flames, or 4 metres for two. Embers gathered on the deck buy six cores, from plain Basalt to the Sun Core, along with Heat Shield, Ember Magnet and Double Heat tools to use mid-run. There are twelve relics to unearth along the way, a seismograph log of your recent runs with your closest call, an endless Flow mode where the lava never stops, and a Daily Eruption with a fresh lane each day. The volcano asks for no connection and no login, shows no adverts and sells nothing, and it scales to phones and tablets.

Take a breath, find the cool line, and let the core roll.
