LANCE

By: TAK Hub App
ATAK map sync via radio with Meshtastic and MeshCore devices

Overview

Features & Capabilities

LANCE connects ATAK-CIV directly with compatible Meshtastic and MeshCore radios and makes the app cost-effective to use over a local radio mesh. The plugin is designed for teams that need to exchange situational information even where cellular networks, the internet, or a TAK Server are not reliably available.

Instead of sending large XML/CoT messages over LoRa, LANCE uses compact Lite messages. Positions, markers, selected shapes, and Range-&-Bearing information are transmitted in a compact format and reconstructed on the receiving side as usable ATAK objects. This protects the radio channel and keeps the data volume manageable.

Key features:
• Direct radio link via Bluetooth LE or USB
• Position transmission from participants
• Sending and receiving map markers
• Sharing all closed shapes, such as circles, ovals, rectangles, and more, with participants
• Transmission of Range-&-Bearing information
• LANCE view in ATAK with link status, events, and send/sync actions
• Operating modes and radio presets that are checked and applied when connecting
• Professional features such as advanced settings, confirmation workflows, and Bridge Mode depending on activation

LANCE is not a standalone mapping system. It is a plugin for ATAK-CIV and requires an installed, compatible ATAK version. For radio operation, you need a
compatible Meshtastic or MeshCore radio. RAK4631/WisBlock devices are currently the recommended tested platform; other mesh devices may work, but should be tested in your own setup before operational use.

Mesh operation runs locally through your configured radios. Everything you send by radio is transmitted to participants in the respective radio network. Range and reliability depend on the radio, firmware, antenna, terrain, power supply, regional settings, and legally usable frequencies.

LANCE is intended for users who want to add lean, controlled radio sync to ATAK: small teams, field tests, operational and outdoor scenarios, NGOs, community applications, and professional users with their own radio and ATAK experience.

LANCE is an independent plugin and not an official app from TAK, MeshCore or Meshtastic. Please note: LANCE does not replace official communication systems, emergency calls, or operational command procedures. Use radios and frequencies only in accordance with the regulations that apply at your location.

Paid for pro version, doesn't work. Meshcore radio paired with tablet, works in other apps, will not connect to Lance plug in. Tried deleting, reinstalling, re-pairing, etc. Nothing works. Theres no provision in the plug in to manually connect. Also there doesn't seem to be any provision for selecting or creating Meshcore channels, so the plug-in wouldn't be very helpful even if it worked.

Do not recommend this app at this time - it broke my encrypted mesh! I was attempting to connect this to my t deck plus in Bluetooth mode and it sent one of my t echos (plus) into a boot loop I could hear it restarting. Mind you this wasn't even the node I was programming nor did I attempt to connect to it. it wiped my channels on both devices. Thankfully I had backups but it completely renamed the devices and changed my channels. Pretty critical flaw in my opinion - don't recommend
