LABAM - Expense Tracker

LABAM is a personal finance app designed specifically for all users. It helps you track every rupee you spend, set monthly budgets, and automatically detect bank transactions from your SMS — all without uploading any data to the internet.
The name LABAM (லாபம்) means "Profit" in Tamil — reflecting our goal of helping you keep more money in your pocket every month.

Your financial data never leaves your phone. Everything is stored locally and encrypted.

1. Information We Collect
LABAM does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information to external servers. All data you enter — expenses, income, budgets, goals — is stored only on your device.

2. SMS Permission
LABAM requests permission to read SMS messages on your device. This permission is used solely to detect bank transaction notifications (such as debit alerts from HDFC, SBI, ICICI, UPI payments via GPay and PhonePe) and automatically create expense entries.

SMS content is processed locally on your device only

No SMS data is ever sent to any server or third party

Only financial SMS (bank debit alerts) are parsed — all other SMS are ignored

You can use the app without granting SMS permission

3. Phone Authentication
LABAM uses Firebase Authentication for OTP-based phone number login. Your phone number is used only to verify your identity. It is not shared with third parties or used for marketing purposes.

4. Data Storage
All financial data (expenses, income, categories, goals, budgets) is stored locally on your device using an encrypted database (Hive with AES-256 encryption). The encryption key is stored in your device's secure hardware keystore.

5. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or share your personal data with any third parties. We do not display advertisements. We do not use analytics tracking.

6. Data Deletion
You can delete all your data at any time from the app's Profile → Settings → Delete All Data. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data permanently.

7. Children's Privacy
LABAM is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
