I've been using the system for 6 years and in that time only replaced the hard drive and a power supply. Easy fixes and otherwise never let me down.

This app is extremely frustrating to use if you are not on the same wifi that the cameras are. If you want to view your systems when traveling (or just at work), the cameras/ "device" goes offline. Sometimes waiting for 15+ minutes idly will let the system come up, but 80% of the time its useless.
