"The game displays a grid of letters, typically 4×4 or 5×5, with one uppercase letter in each cell. You start by placing your finger on any letter, then sliding to an adjacent cell – horizontally, vertically, or diagonally – and continuing to slide from one neighbour to the next, forming a continuous path. When you lift your finger, the system checks the sequence of letters along that path against a built-in dictionary.
The rules for building a path are open and flexible. You may move in any direction at any step, change direction multiple times (e.g., right, then up, then diagonal), and include any number of cells – most games require at least three letters to form a valid word, but the path length is otherwise unrestricted. Crucially, you are allowed to revisit the same cell multiple times within a single path, as long as your sliding trail passes through it again. This means the same starting cell can lead to many different combinations, and you are never forced to use a fixed start point or a fixed word length.
After each path is completed, the system determines whether the sequence matches a recognised English word. If it does, the word is recorded and added to your progress; if not, you receive no penalty and can immediately attempt another path. The letters on the grid typically remain unchanged after each attempt (unless the game resets them between rounds, but in this core description they stay fixed), allowing you to keep exploring new routes across the same set of letters.
There is no time limit, no move counter, and no restriction on how many attempts you can make. Your sole focus is to discover as many words as possible by sliding through the grid – short words, long words, common or obscure – as long as your traced path produces a valid letter sequence. Because you may turn corners and reuse the same cell, a single layout can yield dozens of different words. The challenge lies entirely in your ability to spot patterns, use neighbouring relationships, and think of words that fit the path.
