Gaffer is a simple music rehearsal log designed to help musicians capture what was worked on during band practice, choir rehearsal, or private study. The app feels like a folded paper setlist clipped to a music stand, with neon gaffer tape strips representing each rehearsal note. From the Session tab you can see a snapshot of today's work, including the number of notes added today and the total number of notes in your log. A current focus line and the three most recent rehearsal notes appear directly below, and a quick action button opens the Add tab whenever you are ready to record a new note. The Add tab gives you a form-first page with a large song title field, an optional section input, a tempo stepper for beats per minute, and a note box for capturing rough spots, fixes, dynamics, or next steps. When you save a note, it immediately appears in both the Session view and the full Notes log. The Notes tab keeps a complete reverse-date list of every rehearsal note, with searchable song titles and note text, tap-to-edit, and swipe-to-delete actions. The Songs tab aggregates unique song titles from your existing notes, showing how many notes are attached to each song and the last focused section. Tapping a song in the Songs tab filters the Notes list so you can review everything related to that piece in one place. All rehearsal notes are stored locally on your device, so your log remains private and available without requiring an account or cloud sync. Gaffer is built for weekend band members tracking rough spots, choir section leaders logging focus areas, and private music students noting daily practice run-throughs. By keeping a lightweight record of what was rehearsed, you can reduce repeated mistakes and make your next session more focused. The interface uses large tappable rows and a fixed bottom tab bar for quick movement between Session, Notes, Add, and Songs. When no notes exist, a blank music stave appears as a clear, inviting empty state. Overall, Gaffer helps you turn scattered rehearsal reminders into a simple, readable log that lives right on your music stand.
