Features & Capabilities

The @Voice Floating Button Plugin enhances the @Voice Aloud Reader app by adding a versatile floating control button. This button remains visible on top of any screen, allowing quick access to play and pause functions for reading text aloud. A long press reveals smaller side buttons that enable users to jump forward or backward by sentences, or by articles in their reading list, offering precise navigation.

Users can easily reposition the floating button anywhere on their screen or toggle its visibility via the notification area. Activation is simple through the main @Voice app's settings under Screen and sleep timer. This plugin is designed solely to complement the @Voice Aloud Reader, providing seamless, hands-free control over reading aloud without disrupting other tasks.

User Reviews

Users praise the floating button for hands-free TTS control and accessibility, especially for reading lists and non-English languages, but repeatedly report issues with button size, unreliable playback, occasional instability, missing bookmarks, and UI clarity.

Pros

Hands-free control of text-to-speech via the floating button for listening to multiple articles
Very helpful for visually impaired users
Supports multiple languages and high-quality TTS (Google Wavenet) for better read-aloud
Valuable for busy professionals to stay up to date with readings
Overall positive reception and usefulness when the feature works

Cons

Button size is too large or changes size unexpectedly and cannot be easily resized back
Pause/play controls are unreliable or non-functional on some devices/Android versions
App can be unstable and sometimes stops working
Lacks a convenient bookmarking feature (no floating bookmark or quick add)
UI/UX issues: intrusive popups and unclear instructions; some users want a smoother experience
