BenchBuddy brings together the calculations and bench tasks you do every day in a molecular biology lab into a single tool.
Calculations that used to live on paper notes and spreadsheets are completed right at the bench, on your phone.

[Calculator]
- Reagent mass calculation (compute the required mass from concentration, volume, and molecular weight)
- Dilution calculation (C1V1 = C2V2, multi-component batch calculation)
- Serial dilution (build a serial dilution series from a stock; per-tube transfer and diluent volumes, with pipetting-accuracy warnings)
- PCR master mix calculation (factoring in sample count and overage)
- One-tap start from 6 built-in presets (Standard Taq / KOD One / PrimeSTAR Max / Q5 / Colony PCR / SYBR Green qPCR)
- Split per-sample additions like template or colony lysate from the master mix, and calculate master mix and per-tube components separately
- Tm (melting temperature) calculation (compute Tm and a suggested annealing temperature from a primer sequence, via the basic rule or the nearest-neighbor (NN) method; supports Na⁺ and oligo concentration)
- OD260 → nucleic-acid concentration (concentration for dsDNA/ssDNA/ssRNA from A260, plus A260/A280 purity)
- Mass ↔ moles conversion (convert pmol↔µg and copy number from length in bp/nt or molecular weight)
- Ligation molar-ratio calculation (insert amount needed for a 1:1–5:1 insert:vector ratio from vector/insert lengths and vector mass)
- Hemocytometer cell counting (cell concentration, viability via trypan blue, and seeding volume; pick the chamber type to auto-set the chamber factor)
- OD600 → cell density (estimate density from OD600 with an organism preset (E. coli / yeast / custom) and dilution; editable factor; reverse to the OD600 needed for a target density)
- Doubling time (doubling time, population doublings, and specific growth rate from initial/final counts and elapsed time; hours or days)
- Confluency → cell number (estimate cell number from confluency (%) and the culture-vessel area (T25–T175, 6–96-well))
- Passage planner (toggle seeding-density or split-ratio; computes suspension volume, medium to add, and the number of new vessels)

- Predict migration positions for DNA ladders and sample bands
- Visualize the position on the gel for any bp size you enter
