Grid & Sketch

Master Drawing Proportions with Grid & Sketch

Whether you are a beginner learning how to draw or an experienced portrait artist, illustrator, or painter, Grid & Sketch is your ultimate companion to master proportions,, and realistic details using the time-tested Grid Drawing Method.

Drawing freehand from a reference photo can be intimidating. Misjudged proportions in portrait eyes, distorted perspective in architecture, or miscalculated angles can ruin hours of work. Grid & Sketch takes the guesswork out of drawing by overlaying customizable, mathematically precise grids on any reference photo—giving you complete confidence as you transfer every stroke onto paper or canvas.

Why Choose Grid & Sketch?
The Grid Method is the classical technique used by renaissance masters and modern artists alike to break down complex subjects into bite-sized, manageable squares. Instead of attempting to capture a whole portrait at once, you draw square by square with exact accuracy.

Grid & Sketch elevates this traditional technique into a modern, seamless digital workflow with specialized tools designed by and for traditional sketchers, digital painters, and mixed-media artists.

Key Features
1. Professional Image Preparation & Perspective Control
Crop & Frame: Freeform cropping or locked aspect ratios (1:1, 4:3, 16:9) to match your physical sketchbook, canvas, or drafting board.
Rotate & Flip: 90-degree rotations and mirror flips (horizontal/vertical)—ideal for checking drawing symmetry, composition balance, or inverted sketching exercises.
Fine Perspective & Skew Correction: Fix distorted camera angles or skewed photos taken from odd perspectives before laying down your grid.

2. Fully Customizable Grid Overlay
Locked 1:1 Square Grid Mode: Maintain true, undistorted squares across any canvas orientation (landscape or portrait).
Decimal & Fractional Density Sliders: Adjust rows and columns smoothly with ultra-fine stepper precision (0.01 increments) to fit any physical paper measurement.
Curated Artist Grid Colors: Choose from 8 distinct drafting line colors—including Signature Bronze, Charcoal Graphite, Drafting White (essential for dark reference photos), Blueprint Blue, Crimson Red, Emerald Green, and Champagne Gold.

3. Interactive Canvas with Deep Zoom & Recursive Sub-Grids
Isolate Intricate Details: Double-tap any individual cell (like an eye, lip, or hair texture) to zoom in and subdivide that single cell into recursive 4x4 sub-grids.
Breadcrumb Navigation: Seamlessly navigate back and forth between deep detail sub-grids and the full reference overview.
Labeled Grid Coordinates: Clear alphanumeric cell labels (A1, B2, C3...) make locating squares between your reference and paper effortless.

Perfect For:
Pencil & Charcoal Sketching: Capture lifelike portraits with exact facial symmetry.
Oil, Acrylic & Watercolor Painting: Scale small reference photos up to giant canvases.
Muralists & Sign Painters: Scale small drawings onto large walls and outdoor surfaces.
Art Students & Beginners: Train your eye to observe spatial relationships, negative space, and tonal values.
