User reviews
IBM MaaS360 is a mandatory corporate security app that allows access to work emails and enforces device security policies. However, multiple users report severe performance degradation, intrusive permissions, and difficulty uninstalling the app after job changes. Persistent bugs, including syncing issues and password update failures, further frustrate users. The app's remote wipe feature, though intended for security, has resulted in unexpected device resets and data loss. Overall, users find the app intrusive, resource-intensive, and unreliable, but recognize its necessity for corporate environments.
Pros
- Allows access to work emails and company resources, which may be necessary for employment.
- Provides device management features required by corporate IT policies.
- Enforces security measures to protect company data.
- Includes options for remote wipe of data to secure devices if lost or stolen.
Cons
- The app significantly degrades phone performance, including slowing mobile network speeds and reducing battery life.
- Difficult or impossible to uninstall or deactivate after leaving a job, sometimes causing persistent issues.
- Buggy and unreliable functionality, including failure to update passwords, sync emails properly, and unstable behavior causing phone crashes.
- Intrusive permissions that allow extensive access to personal phone data, leading to privacy concerns.
- Forced device wipes or factory resets without clear warnings when removing the app, causing potential permanent data loss.
Recent reviews
The app does not show subfolders that I have in outlook. The "search on server" feature does not work most of the time. On a given day, I may send/receive 100+ emails. I can only see approximately 30-40 emails at a time, which is a problem if I have an urgent after hours situation to handle.

This app is like an anchor dragging down the performance of my phone. It's a work phone, so I have no choice but to allow this app and the privacy violations that come along with it, which I've come to terms with, but the way it affects my phone's performance severely impacts the usefulness of my phone as a tool. My mobile network speeds are so slow as to render my phone almost useless unless I am connected to wifi, and my battery life is half what it should be. Made my S22 Ultra feel ancient.
