PlatePatrol - NZ Plate Scanner

PlatePatrol turns your phone camera into a number plate scanner. Point it at vehicles and the app will automatically read plates and check them against the publicly available NZ Police stolen vehicle database — in real time.

Works without internet — Plate scanning and detection runs entirely on-device. Internet is only needed to update the vehicle database.

Privacy-first — Unmatched plates stay in memory only and are never saved. Matched detections are kept for up to 30 days.

HOW IT WORKS

Open the app and point your camera at vehicles. PlatePatrol automatically detects and reads number plates. Each plate is checked against the NZ Police stolen vehicle database. If a match is found, you get an alert with vehicle details. Follow the in-app safety guidance to report matches to NZ Police.

PlatePatrol is for informational purposes only. Do NOT approach or pursue any vehicle. Users have no enforcement authority. Always report matches to NZ Police: call 111 (emergency), 105 (non-emergency), or Crimestoppers 0800 555 111 (anonymous).
