Speak into any app. Offline AI dictation that cleans up your words as you go.
Hush is offline voice to text for Android. Speak into any app and an on-device AI turns your words into clean, punctuated text. No account, no cloud, no subscription. It even works in airplane mode.
WHY HUSH IS DIFFERENT
Most voice to text apps record you, upload the audio to a server, and send back a transcript. Hush never does. Speech recognition and text cleanup both run as on-device AI models, so your voice and your words stay on your phone. Not for transcription, not for "improving the product," not ever.
Hush also doesn't stop at raw dictation. After it hears you, a small on-device language model tidies the result: it removes filler words, breaks up run-ons, adds punctuation, and smooths awkward phrasing, without changing what you meant. You get finished text, not a rough transcript you still have to clean up yourself.
DICTATE INTO ANY APP
- Tap the Hush bubble anywhere you can type: messages, email, notes, documents, forms, search bars.
- Speak naturally. Hush shows what it is hearing in real time.
- When you stop, the on-device AI settles your words into clean, punctuated text.
- Review it and drop it into the field, or set Hush to insert automatically.
There is no separate app to switch to and no copy-and-paste step. Your dictation lands in the field where you were already typing.
OFFLINE DICTATION, EVERYWHERE
Because speech recognition runs locally on your phone, Hush works with no internet at all. On a plane, on the subway, in a basement, abroad without roaming, or anywhere the signal drops. Offline voice typing is the default here rather than a fallback mode, so your voice to text keeps working in the places other dictation apps quietly stop.
TEACH IT YOUR WORDS
Names, brands and jargon that ordinary speech to text always gets wrong? Add them to Hush's personal dictionary once and it learns to hear them correctly from then on. Your dictionary is stored only on your device.
BUILT FOR PRIVACY, NOT JUST MARKETED THAT WAY
- No account or sign-in, ever.
- No analytics, no ad SDKs, no crash reporting, no tracking of any kind.
- The microphone is only active while you are actively dictating.
- The one and only network request Hush ever makes is a one-time download of its offline speech and cleanup models, and only after you explicitly approve it.
- Export or wipe your personal dictionary and settings at any time, from inside the app.
ABOUT THE FLOATING BUBBLE
Hush's dictation bubble uses Android's accessibility service for one narrow purpose: to notice when a text field is focused, so it knows when to appear and where to insert your finished text. It does not read, store or transmit what is on your screen.
GREAT FOR
- Voice typing long messages, emails and replies
- Voice to text in apps that have no dictation button of their own
- Private voice notes and journaling
- Drafting writing, ideas and outlines by voice
- Hands-free text entry while cooking or walking
- Dictation without internet, while travelling or on a plane
- Anyone who talks faster than they type
- Anyone who would rather their voice never left their phone
COMMON QUESTIONS
Does Hush work offline? Yes. After a one-time model download, all speech to text runs on your device with no connection.
Do I need an account? No. There is no sign-up, no login and no subscription.
Where does my audio go? Nowhere. Transcription happens on your phone and the audio is not uploaded.
Is Hush a keyboard? No. It is a floating dictation bubble that works on top of whichever keyboard you already use.
How fast is it? Speed depends on your phone, since the AI model runs on your own hardware. Try it on yours.
WHAT HUSH IS NOT
Hush is not a cloud transcription service, not a meeting recorder and not a subscription. There is no account to create, nothing to sync and no server that ever sees your voice.
Speak. Hush writes it. Offline voice to text, dictated and cleaned up entirely on your device.
