Review summary

User reviews of the Dropbox Passwords Android app reveal that while the desktop version and Dropbox account integration work well, the Android app suffers from frequent crashes, poor autofill support, problematic sign-in and device authorization, and syncing inconsistencies. The app's instability and frustrating login flows often lead to loss of access to passwords. However, users appreciate its seamless integration with Dropbox, easy navigation, and inclusion of 2FA code support. Overall, the app is considered immature and buggy for Android, and many users recommend alternative password managers until improvements are made.
Pros
  • Integrates well with Dropbox accounts, allowing users already using Dropbox to access passwords within the ecosystem.
  • Provides 2FA codes and easy navigation, simplifying password management once logged in.
  • Desktop and PC versions work well, with good syncing and browser extensions.
  • Allows importing passwords from other password managers without issue.
  • Back up of encryption keys to physical media offers extra security.
Cons
  • Frequent app crashes, instability, and flickering, especially during biometric login, causing crashes or phone restarts.
  • Poor and unreliable autofill function on Android, often not recognizing login fields or requiring manual copy-paste.
  • Difficult or impossible device authorization/sign-in process, especially when switching devices, leading to account resets and data loss if recovery keys are lost.
  • Syncing issues between Android and desktop versions, leading to inconsistent password data across devices.
  • Clunky interface in Android app, with slow response times, memory leaks, and forced restarts needed regularly.

Totally confusing app not suitable as a replacement for Google password manager. Downloaded again but it needs me to log in with a password that I know nothing about. So which comes first. The chicken or the egg. How Google can insist on using this junk I don't know. I'm using my phone and don't have a computer since windows killed it off with an incompatible windows 11. Why would anyone need Dropbox on an android phone? I had it but as soon as I download this manager it gets deleted.

This app has been clunky ever since installing it. Now the app has signed me out for no particular reason. To sign back in I need to ask permission from another device which is sent and is approved. Unfortunately this doesn't work and the app is left hanging waiting for permission. Reinstalling didn't work. Now I Can't access any of my passwords on my phone. I will be installing a new app.

It's free, but it's really bad. Works terribly on my phone and.the app doesn't sync well. Most password apps aren't good on phones, but this one is extremely bad

Not thrilled with this app. More often than not it won't recognize login pages so you have to open the app manually and copy/paste your info, or copy/paste new info into it. Also every time you open the app you've got to pass a security measure. I know it's for safety but because it doesn't often recognize logins, you have to switch back and forth a lot. There are much better password keepers; the ONLY reason I'm using this one is because it comes included with a Dropbox account.

The worst experience ever, I could not login to the Dropbox password app with any of the alternative options after getting a new phone. The not have the phone recovery. The only option was to reset the account, which, of course, erased all of my passwords. I now have to start painfully over. If you have a Samsung phone, I would advise using the Samsung Password app instead. This way, if you ever lose or need to chang the phone, you won't lose all your passwords.

Works great on iOS. Buggy and annoying on Android. On Android if you autofill on a website and navigate back to the passwords app later, the app will close when you click on an account. This bug should've never made it to production. Would rate 1 star, but despite it's flaws, it's one of the better password managers. I do like that it has 2FA codes and that it's interface is easy to navigate. I also like that you can back up your encryption key to a physical medium for extra security.

Dropbox password manager looks great. I tried the pc firefox ext. Works perfect. Android installation also perfects. No crash found. But i got 1 problem which is the autofill in android phone doesn't really work. When i want to input username, it pop up "autofill with dropbox password" but when i tap on it, it doesn't do anything. I doesn't open the mini dropbox password so i can select which password i want. I hope you could fix the problem. Thank you

Unless you like to force stop apps constantly... trash this. I have to stop and restart several times to get my $1400 Samsung to open this app and prompt for fingerprint. IF that works sometimes the app opens and sometimes it crashes, repeatedly. Closing it doesn't help much and it sucks up resources from some awful coding memory leak until I force quit or restart. I type this with 10-20 second pauses every few letters because of such a leak. A year of this is enough. They aren't fixing it.

Better apps out there. Auto fill does not always work. The app does not go past the logo screen. Requires restart of app several times for it to work. Thought it was my phone but changed phone twice in the last few months and all the phones have the same issue. If I did not use Dropbox daily i would not use this App. The PC version on the other hand works perfectly.

Rarely prompts to autofil passwords. I can still manually go to the app and double check my password, but I've had other password managers in the past that had no issue recognizing username and password boxes and promoting for autofil. I was able to import my passwords without issue. But, I'm about ready to go give my money to the competition. So perplexed how it is this clunky.
