Bishop Score

The Bishop score is a clinical assessment tool used to evaluate cervical readiness for labor and predict the likelihood of a successful induction. Developed by Dr. Edward Bishop in 1964. Shortly after the Bishop score was introduced, other investigators proposed new scoring methods, consequently scoring has been modified, and attempts have been made to improve the Bishop score by adjusting for additional maternal and obstetrical characteristics, but these scores in general have not proven to be superior to the original score. Besides the original score other common modifications were also incorporated into this calculator.
