User Reviews

AsciiCam is widely praised for being fun, easy to use, and capable, with a simple, ad-free interface and multiple modes for turning photos or live video into ASCII-like art. The main issues reported involve stability on some devices (notably front-camera crashes), problematic sharing/export flow after capture, and a desire for color customization options. Overall, it’s engaging and lightweight, but could improve in reliability, image handling, and color features.
Pros
  • Fun and entertaining; easy to use
  • Simple, minimal interface with no bloat or ads
  • Performs well at 60 FPS and is efficient
  • Offers multiple modes and customizable settings
  • Converts photos or live camera feed into ASCII-like art
Cons
  • Crashes on front camera and on some devices (e.g., Huawei Mate 20) with certain filters
  • Sharing after capture is flaky; images sometimes go to landscape or require external sharing flow
  • Lacks color customization options; users want more color control (e.g., green Matrix-like colors)

One of the best ascii image apps. My advice would be to use a better interface for selecting photos.

This app is way better that its successor, which is the Vector Camera since the modded pictures are of low quality and doesn't even have the option to move/access it from the app's own storage since you'll need to share it first to an external device then send it back to yourself.
