Review summary

CloudBooks audiobook player offers strong cloud integration and an easy-to-use interface that audiophiles appreciate. However, repeated complaints concern the lack of bookmarks and chapters, problematic headphone controls, unreliable offline downloads, and missing syncing of playback progress. Users seek better customization options and more stable background behavior. Despite these issues, the app remains a recommended solution for cloud-based audiobook playback.
Pros
  • Excellent integration with cloud storage services like Google Drive, OneDrive, and pCloud, allowing easy access to audiobooks stored in the cloud.
  • User-friendly interface making it easy to navigate and use the app.
  • Reliable playback experience with the ability to cache tracks for offline listening.
  • App supports long-form audiobooks and meets a long-standing need for a dedicated audiobook player.
  • Regular users highly recommend the app for audiobook listening due to its features and performance.
Cons
  • Lack of important audiobook features like bookmarks and chapter support in m4b files, which hampers navigation within audiobooks.
  • Headphone and Bluetooth control issues: Rewind and fast-forward functions often restart or skip the book instead of seeking, making headset controls unintuitive.
  • Problems with offline downloads, which rarely work as expected, leading to playback issues when not connected to the internet.
  • Limited customization such as the inability to assign or select book covers and hide irrelevant folders in cloud roots, reducing personalization.
  • Sync progress feature is missing, causing users to lose their place between devices; also, the app launches in the background unnecessarily, affecting battery and resources.

everything about this app is just amazing, initially I wanted to use this app for its connection with google drive but that isnt available anymore. For me that takes out a star from my rating, likewise one of the bigger issues Im almost always dealing with is the offline downloads via the app, it rarely if ever works. Other than that the app is just crazy good.

This is the app I've been looking for to use with my audiobooks. The problem is that for headphones and other Bluetooth devices, trying to rewind or fast-forward from headphones restart or ships the book instead. That one thing would put this at a 5 star rating for me. Hopefully this is something that can be added soon.
