Welcome to a cinematic puzzle experience designed around the concept of restoring lost memories. The visual presentation of Broken Frame is built upon the idea of fixing damaged film reels. Each image represents a unique scene featuring a charming bearded man, appearing as if it were a nostalgic photograph or a memory pulled directly from an old movie. The visual style is restrained and atmospheric, utilizing a subtle film texture and grain noise to convey a genuine sense of passing time.

The core mechanics involve reassembling these fractured moments. At the beginning of every round, a complete image is divided into a three-by-three grid consisting of nine equal fragments. These fragments are then randomly shuffled across the board. The player interacts by sequentially selecting two different pieces, causing them to swap positions instantly. The primary objective is to deduce the correct layout and restore the original picture. Upon successfully completing the puzzle, the image is highlighted with a satisfying green border for exactly one second, symbolizing the restoration of the moment, before a Next button appears to advance the sequence.

There are ten distinct images available to reconstruct, but the gameplay loop in Broken Frame can continue indefinitely until the user actively decides to stop. To measure performance, a dedicated timer tracks how long it takes to solve each specific round. The absolute best outcome, defined as the minimum completion time greater than zero, is permanently stored in the records section. Furthermore, Broken Frame ensures uninterrupted progress with an automatic pause system. If the application is minimized or swapped, the session freezes and resumes exactly where left off.
