Breath Bell: Mindfulness Timer

Breath Bell is a bell of mindfulness for your phone — inspired by Thich Nhat Hanh's writing on "inviting the bell." A sound or a vibration, on a schedule you choose, calling you back to the present moment.

It's not a guided breathing pacer and it's not a course — the developer tried guided apps first and found the voice and animation distracting for his own attention, not a verdict on guided meditation in general. It won't track your mood or ask you to log anything. It just rings, through your day, and lets you decide what three breaths are for.

• Random, unpredictable timing within your active hours — so you can't brace for the next one

• Pick a duration, get a bell to start, get a bell to end — nothing in between unless you ask for it
• Optional interval bells partway through your sit
• Quick-access favorites so a duration you use often is one tap, not a re-configure every time
• Meditation history is private and on by default. It quietly notes a streak once you've sat 3 days in a row — and says nothing at all about a missed day. You can turn it off any time. No guilt, no nagging notifications, no red X.
