2024-02-23	Lo*****	Incredibly wordy, not saying that is necessarily bad it can just be overwhelming, but some people learn better like that I'm very impressed by the knowledge available. It truly explains japanese fundamentally, unlike other language apps I've personally encountered. but it seems to progress rather quickly and also not really in the right ways for me. Anyone serious about japanese should try humanjapanese, but be aware this "lite" app is rather limited in scope, seeing as it is a free resource.

As you progress you are presented with the differences between Japanese and English. I guess this is supposed to be a helping point but it adds excessive time into Japanese because in reality none of the comparisons actually matter, only the Japanese portions matter. It's also very difficult to back track if you need help remembering something, which is why I dumped this app.

2023-09-22	Bu*****	Amazing app. Most likely the best one out there, it actually explains things in great detail and focuses on teaching properly rather than the more popular useless gamified language apps like duolingo that does nothing but repeat few generic phrases and words.. I almost never buy premium versions but this one is certainly worth it. I couldnt find a way to carry over my progress from free to full version so if you like what you see, i recommend switching to full version sooner than later.

2022-08-15	Pa*****	There's nothing wrong with this app. Its text is nicely written. It runs smoothly. It's easy to understand. It just doesn't really suit me... and I could stop there, but... It is a lot like a chatty textbook. I personally find Duolingo website a lot better way to learn and a lot quicker. So, give it a try. This version is free and it'll keep you occupied for a couple of hours. The next lessons don't look expensive.

It's fairly simple to read and has a more casual feeling than a textbook while still being akin to one. I've been using this in conjunction with Busuu and have made more progress in a matter of weeks than I did for a year with Duo. Def going to upgrade when I can.

2022-03-20	Te*****	while i like this app and I'm 8 chapters into it, I'm frustrated that there doesn't seem to be a way to study and drill the vocabulary without going to the individual tables in each chapter and clicking on words. I was really expecting some sort of flashcard-like functionality for building the vocabulary introduced in each lesson. Maybe I'm missing something?

2022-02-21	Ri*****	Great app!! The developers used an approach that somewhat parallels how children are taught their native language in school starting with the writing system. At least that's my take on it; this greatly appeals to me. Now I just wish they would branch out to other languages!

2021-07-04	M *****	I can understand why this app is raved about, but I definitely think it misses some points early on by wanting to be "beginner friendly". Want to learn Japanese? Try LingoDeer. Much better material, and quizzes to help with retention (I'm not being paid to say that). Good luck with your studies! 🍀

2021-04-18	Cr*****	It feels like I'm learning with classroom grade materials, I've barely started and I'm already tempted to buy the full version. Similar apps are great for characters and words but this one surpasses them with well rounded lessons and quizzes.

2021-03-14	Er*****	It's decent, I like that it walks you through everything step by step. Though as a non native English speaker, I find the pronunciation guide pretty annoying. I feel like it can help you pronounce in the short run, but I find it much better to learn each kana character's pronunciation individually before moving on to words and sentences.
