Athanor

Long before chemistry had a name, seekers bent over glowing furnaces chasing a stubborn dream: to turn the ordinary into the extraordinary. Athanor gathers that smoky, symbol-drenched world into a quiet pocket companion, where mercury, sulphur and salt wear strange glyphs and every substance carries a story older than the printing press. Muted ink-and-parchment surfaces glow with thin lines of gold leaf, and a slow-breathing furnace waits at the heart of it all. It feels less like an app and more like leaning over an old adept's workbench by candlelight.

At the centre sits The Furnace: choose two elemental symbols, give the phone a firm shake to "fire" the athanor, and watch it reveal what the old texts claimed their union would yield, complete with a short slice of real history. Everything you kindle is pressed into the Cabinet, your growing shelf of discovered substances and symbols, each with an illustrated entry and searchable notes. Test yourself with pocket quizzes drawn from genuine alchemical lore, mark favourite entries for quick return, and let a gentle daily notification hand you one new symbol to learn. A calm dark theme, tidy bottom navigation and unhurried transitions keep the whole cabinet feeling hushed and unhurried.
