Pulsenn: Heart Rate BP Monitor

Your heart rate from your phone camera, with a number you can trust.

Pulsenn is a heart rate monitor that uses the rear camera and flash. Rest a fingertip on the lens and it reads the pulse in your blood flow, beat by beat. In about 20 seconds you have your heart rate, the confidence interval around it, and the heart rate variability (HRV) behind it. No cuff, no chest strap, no watch required.

No account and no setup. Open, hold, read.

A HEART RATE MONITOR THAT REFUSES A BAD READING
+++ +++ +++ +++ +++ +++

Most camera pulse monitor apps print three confident digits whatever the signal looks like. Pulsenn computes your heart rate two independent ways and only shows a number when they agree. Six quality checks score the measurement, the weakest one caps the score, and when the signal is not good enough you are told exactly why: cold hands, a slipped finger, too much pressure, movement. Never a made-up number, and no ads in front of the measurement.

HEART RATE, HRV AND HEART HEALTH SCORES
+++ +++ +++ +++ +++ +++

Every clean reading carries its heart rate variability: RMSSD, SDNN and pNN50 from the intervals between your beats. From the rate and the variability Pulsenn works out a heart score, recovery, energy and stress, each judged against your own resting baseline rather than a textbook range. Heart age comes from your variability against the typical value at each age, and heart rate zones are cut from your own estimated maximum.

KEY FEATURES
+++ +++ +++ +++ +++ +++

• Heart rate monitor using the rear camera and flash, about 20 seconds per reading
• Heart rate variability (HRV): RMSSD, SDNN and pNN50 from a clean reading
• Heart score, recovery, energy and stress, judged against your own baseline
• Heart age, estimated from your variability
• Blood pressure tracker: log systolic and diastolic from your cuff, with the standard categories
• Blood sugar and blood oxygen log, kept beside your readings
• Cortisol estimate from your rate and the time of day
• Trends over 7, 30 and 90 days against your resting baseline
• BMI from your height and weight
• CSV export of every reading
• Available in 24 languages

A BLOOD PRESSURE LOG BESIDE YOUR PULSE
+++ +++ +++ +++ +++ +++

Pulsenn does not measure blood pressure with the camera, and it says so. What it does is keep a clean blood pressure log: type in the systolic and diastolic from your cuff and the entry is filed beside that day's heart rate readings with the standard category, so your vitals sit in one place: pulse, blood pressure and blood sugar. Every typed entry is marked as entered by you, so a cuff number is never mistaken for a camera reading.

WHY PULSENN
+++ +++ +++ +++ +++ +++

A range of 60 to 100 covers a trained athlete and someone who has just run for a bus. Pulsenn builds a baseline from your own resting readings and compares each new one against that, and until it has enough of them it says so instead of guessing.

WHEN TO USE PULSENN
+++ +++ +++ +++ +++ +++

• First thing in the morning, for the resting heart rate that builds your baseline
• After a hard session, to watch your recovery come back
• On a stressful day, to see what your body is actually doing
• After a cuff reading, to log blood pressure beside your pulse
• Before a check-up, to bring a month of numbers

SIMPLE BY DESIGN
+++ +++ +++ +++ +++ +++

The live trace is always on screen, so you see the real signal before any number appears. Nothing from the camera leaves your phone: each frame is reduced to a handful of numbers on the device and discarded.

Pulsenn is a wellness app, not a medical device. It measures heart rate. It does not measure blood pressure or blood oxygen, those are logged from your own cuff or meter, and it cannot detect atrial fibrillation or other rhythm disorders. If you are worried about your heart, speak to a doctor.

Pulsenn Plus+ unlocks unlimited readings, HRV and its scores, full history, 30 and 90 day trends, and export.

Pulsenn. A heart rate you can stand behind.
