Record and edit GPS tracks. Locally, no subscriptions, no cloud.
Record, edit, and manage your GPS tracks and routes, stored as standard GPX files in a folder you control. Works offline once map tiles are cached. No cloud, no account, no subscription required. Built for hikers, cyclists, trail runners, and drivers.
RECORD YOUR ROUTES
Start recording with one tap on any trail, road, or route. GPxplore runs in the background, survives phone calls and screen-off, and keeps the GPS alive with a wake lock so no points are missed. Tracks are automatically named with the date, time, and nearest city.
Choose from built-in recording presets (Sport, Hike, Cycle, Drive, Power Saving) or build your own Custom preset with full control over recording interval, distance filters, and GPS accuracy thresholds.
Drop waypoints as you go; they appear on the map in real time.
A Kalman filter smooths GPS noise as you record, so tracks come out clean without post-processing.
MANAGE YOUR LIBRARY
All your tracks live in a clean library with search and sort. Select individual tracks or all filtered results at once and plot them on the map together. Rename, recolour, share, or delete tracks from their card. GPX files imported from other apps appear automatically.
Deleted tracks go to the Recycle Bin. Restore them any time before permanent deletion.
TWO MAP SOURCES
Switch between Google Maps and OpenStreetMap. OpenStreetMap supports three styles (Standard, Cycle, and Transport) and works fully offline once tiles are cached. Your location, recorded tracks, and all map controls work identically on both.
SEE WHERE YOU GO MOST
Select any number of tracks and switch on the heatmap to see which areas you visit most often. Density runs on a logarithmic green-to-red scale, so one frequent route doesn't wash out the rest. Available on Google Maps.
ANALYSE YOUR TRACKS
Detailed statistics for every track: distance, max speed, moving time, average speed, pace, elevation profile, ascent, descent, slope, and more. Share a full stats summary as an image.
EDIT YOUR GPX FILES
Inspect and edit every point in a track. Trim the start or end, split segments, merge segments, add and move waypoints, and undo freely. Works with any GPX file from any app or device, not just tracks recorded in GPxplore.
OPEN FORMAT, YOUR DATA, YOUR FOLDER
All tracks are saved as standard GPX files in a folder you choose. No cloud lock-in, no proprietary format. Import GPX files from any app, or open yours in any GPX-compatible tool. Export your entire library as a single ZIP file for backup or transfer.
MULTILANGUAGE
Full interface in English, Spanish, Catalan, French, German, and Italian. A built-in tutorial covers every feature, in all six languages.

PERMISSIONS
Location (foreground + background), required for GPS recording
Notifications, used for the recording status notification
Wake lock, keeps GPS active while recording in the background
Internet, used for map tiles and the optional elevation correction
GPxplore does not collect or transmit personal data, and does not use analytics or advertising. Your tracks stay on your device.
One optional exception: elevation correction sends the selected track's coordinates to the Open-Elevation service to look up terrain altitude. It runs only when you tap the button and confirm. Nothing else leaves your device.
