Weld Settings Calculator & Log

By: AnvilField App
MIG, stick, TIG, flux core amps by thickness. Save settings cards by job.

Overview

Features & Capabilities

Weld settings calculator and chart: appropriate starting parameters — amps and, where applicable, volts and wire feed speed — for MIG, stick, TIG, and flux core by process, filler, and metal thickness.
Then the part no wall chart does: save the chart result as a settings card, tag it to a job or joint, and bring it back without repeating the lookup.

Every shop has the workaround: Sharpie numbers on a side panel, masking tape on the wire spool, or a settings notebook in the toolbox. ArcSet keeps the lookup beside the work instead: save the result, add a job tag and joint note, attach a panel photo, favorite repeat setups, and reopen recent cards or grouped jobs offline.

The chart covers the classifications welders actually look up — 6010, 6011, 6013, 7014, 7018, 7024, ER70S-6, E71T-1, E71T-11, E71T-GS — plus TIG setups and out-of-position adjustments:
- MIG welding settings chart: voltage and wire feed speed by wire size and thickness
- Stick welding amps to metal thickness for the listed common rod classifications
- Flux core settings for 1/8 steel and thinner sheet
- TIG amperage by thickness, with polarity and gas
- Heat input in kJ/in and kJ/mm, checked against your shop limit
- Big numbers you can read in sun or shade; English and Spanish

Running 1/8 in with 7018? Start near 115 A DCEP — the app shows the full 100 to 145 A band — then log where yours actually ran.

The log side is the memory:
- Save a settings card with process, filler, thickness, amps, volts, wire feed, gas, polarity, photo, joint note, and job tag
- Reopen recent lookups, pin favorites, and group saved cards by job
- Export a card as PDF, CSV, JPEG, or plain text — text the apprentice the setup
- Import your shop's own setting bands from CSV or JSON

It is brand-neutral: the chart is organized by process, consumable classification, diameter, material, thickness, position, and transfer mode rather than by a manufacturer's control-panel model.

Plain terms, once: no account, no ads, and no internet permission — the app cannot phone home, so it runs in the shop basement or on the pipeline right-of-way, and your data stays on your phone. And it is not a Welding Procedure Specification. Chart values are starting points restated from publicly available manufacturer and trade-school reference ranges; every band shows a source note with its position and polarity coverage. Your shop's qualified procedure, engineer, or CWI governs code work — always.

ArcSet is not affiliated with or endorsed by AWS, Miller, Lincoln Electric, Hobart, or ESAB. AWS classifications (A5.1, A5.18, A5.20) and machine brands are named nominatively. All values are estimates for planning — verify against project requirements.
