Anotepad Android

Anotepad

By: Ilya E App
Notepad with optional Google Drive sync

Overview

Features & Capabilities

Simple notepad like Tombo or MiniNoteViewer:
- plain text files
- search
- smart file naming
- font size, sort order customization

I added new features:
- Undo/redo buttons
- Google Drive sync
- List and Feed view

Open Source and without any ads.

Main features:

Local TXT notes
Anotepad stores notes locally as ordinary TXT files. They are easy to read, copy, back up, move, or open with another file manager or text editor.

Folder-based organization
Organize your notes using normal folders and files. Create, rename, move, and delete notes in a simple file-based structure.

Feed-style view
Open all TXT files in the current folder together and browse them one after another, like a simple text feed. This is useful when you want to review many notes without opening each file separately.

Search through notes
Quickly find notes by searching inside your TXT files. Search by title, phrase, keyword, saved snippet, or remembered detail.

Quick editing and templates
Create new TXT notes, edit existing ones, and keep short reusable templates for daily notes, checklists, logs, drafts, and repeated text patterns.

Works with synced folders
Anotepad can be used with a folder synced through Google Drive or another file sync tool. This lets you keep your notes available across devices while still using simple TXT files.

Share text to Anotepad
Select text in another app and share it to Anotepad. The selected text will be saved as a separate file in the Shared folder, making it easy to collect quotes, links, and snippets.

Anotepad is designed for people who prefer simple text files, clear folder structure, and direct control over their notes.

Google Play lists the following access:
- view network connections
- full network access
- run at startup
- prevent device from sleeping
- Google Play license check

Short explanation (and when it applies):
- view network connections (ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE): used to detect connectivity and respect Wi-Fi-only sync settings. Needed only when Drive sync is enabled.
- full network access (INTERNET): required for Google Drive API calls, Google sign-in, and sync. Needed only when Drive sync is enabled.
- run at startup (RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED via WorkManager): lets periodic sync resume after device reboot. Only used when Drive sync is enabled.
- prevent device from sleeping (WAKE_LOCK via WorkManager): used briefly while a sync task is running so the system doesn't kill it mid-sync. It does not keep the device awake for hours; it is held only during the short sync window and then released. Only used when Drive sync is enabled.
- Google Play license check: may be reported by Google Play Services dependencies (used for Google sign-in). The app does not block usage based on license checks, and this is only relevant when Drive sync is enabled.

If Drive sync is disabled, the app does not schedule background work and only uses local storage.
