Shyamalee Chouhad : CMIPP

The Chief Minister's Institutional Plantation Programme (CMIPP), led by Shyamalee Chouhad and coordinated by the Assam Science Technology and Environment Council, addresses the urgent issue of climate change in Northeast India. This region, rich in biodiversity yet highly vulnerable due to its strategic location and fragile ecosystems, faces challenges like temperature rise and extreme weather events.

CMIPP is a practical, sustainable, and long-lasting plantation initiative launched by the Science, Technology, and Climate Change Department of Assam. Running from July 17 to August 15, 2022, the program involves multiple government departments working collectively to promote plantation and natural regeneration of plants to mitigate the impacts of climate change.
