Muwatta Malik

Muwatta Malik is among the earliest and most significant collections of Islamic hadith, compiled by Imam Malik. It encompasses marfoo’ ahaadeeth (prophetic traditions) and mawqoof reports (statements from the companions and successors), alongside legal rulings and fatwas by Imam Malik himself. The title "Muwatta" signifies its accessibility, as Imam Malik refined it for over four decades to serve as an authentic and practical guide for the Muslim community.

Notably, multiple transmissions of the Muwatta exist, differing in content and arrangement, with the version of Yahya ibn Yahya al-Masmoodi al-Laythi being the most renowned. This collection remains pivotal in Islamic jurisprudence and scholarship, reflecting traditions from the Prophet’s companions, the Followers (Taabi’een), and later scholars. The extension offers comprehensive insights into early Islamic legal thought and the preservation of prophetic teachings.
