Burns: Area, Index and Fluid C

According to WHO estimates about 2,65,000 deaths occur each year from fires alone globally, with more deaths from scalds, electrical burns, and other forms of burns for which data are not available. The majority of these deaths occur in low- and middle-income countries, with almost half, occurs in the WHO South-East Asia Region.

According to the National Health Portal of India(www.nhp.gov.in) in India, around 7 million people suffer from burn injuries each year with 1.4 lakh deaths and 2.4 lakh people suffering from a disability. Burn death rates have been decreasing in high-income countries.

The burn resuscitation fluid in this application is calculated by using both the Parkland formula and Brooke formula, Evans formula is the standard burn care formula that accounts for body weight and the burn surface area. The nutritional requirement has been calculated from the Galveston formula.
