Boom Tropics

Boom Tropics drops sticks of three tropical fruit into a narrow volcanic well and asks you to line them up before the well fills. Rows count, columns count, and both diagonals count too, which makes every landing a much richer decision than an ordinary stack game.

A pad of four big keys sits under the well. Slide the stick left or right, cycle the three fruit inside it so the colour you need sits at the bottom, or slam it straight down when you already know where it goes. If you prefer, you can play entirely on the well itself: swipe sideways to slide, tap to cycle, swipe down to slam.

When a line bursts, everything above it drops into the gap. If that landing forms another line you get a chain, and chains pay far more than single bursts. Setting up a stack that collapses three times in a row is the heart of the game.

Every so often a black boom coconut arrives inside a stick. Wherever it settles it blows a three by three hole in the well and takes anything caught in the blast with it, including stone. Holding one back for the corner that has gone wrong is often the difference between a long run and a short one.

Three modes share the same well. Classic runs forever and speeds up every ten lines. Ninety Rush starts fast, puts a clock on the screen, and pays a little time back for every line you burst. Deep Well begins half full of grey stone fruit that never matches on its own and only cracks when a burst goes off right beside it, so you have to work the collapses inward.

Medals track your first burst, your longest chain, your coconut count and your best score in each mode, and a local ranking board keeps classic and rush lists side by side. All of it stays on this device, and one button in the settings clears everything.
