Remote Firefox

Remote

Opt in to persistent remote Firefox access for an authorized organization controller.

Features & Capabilities

Remote is an experimental beta for authorized organization members. A signed-in user can explicitly turn on persistent remote browser access, pair one authorized organization controller, see when control is on, and turn it off at any time. After the one-time Firefox site-access grant, access survives Firefox restarts and remains on until the user turns it off. While access is on, the paired controller can read ordinary page content, manage tabs, click, type, select, submit forms, navigate, scroll, and capture the visible tab. Password, payment-card, one-time-code, and file input values are not read or typed; visible-tab captures can include anything currently shown on the page. Private windows and browser-internal pages are excluded. A Chattingly account and organization membership are required. Privacy policy: https://chattingly.com/privacy

Is Remote Safe?

Risk impact
Risk impact measures the level of extra permissions an extension has access to. A low risk impact extension cannot do much harms, whereas a high risk impact extension can do a lot of damage like stealing your password, bypassing your security settings, and accessing your personal data. High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.

Remote requires a few sensitive permissions. Exercise caution before installing.

Risk likelihood
Risk likelihood measures the probability that a Firefox add-on may turn malicious. This is determined by the publisher and the Firefox add-on reputation on Firefox Add-ons Store, the amount of time the Firefox add-on has been around, and other signals about the Firefox add-on. Our algorithms are not perfect, and are subject to change as we discover new ways to detect malicious extensions. We recommend that you always exercise caution when installing a Firefox add-on.

Remote is recently added, and hasn't been around long enough for us to gather enough data to accurately assess its risk level.
