CCaptioner is a Firefox extension designed to enhance the video viewing experience by adding the ability to assign a text track or subtitles to HTML5 videos. Many video players do not offer this feature, but with CCaptioner, you can easily add a .srt or .vtt file as a text track. It can be injected into specific websites when clicked on its toolbar icon. Due to its activeTab and <all_urls> permissions, it can interact with loaded web pages and be used in embedded iframe elements. Additionally, it allows for time-shifting the text track, useful when synchronisation issues arise.
