CacheCannon Firefox

CacheCannon

One-click cache purge and hard refresh. Choose what gets cleared, purge one site or the whole browser, then reload, reopen in a Private Window, or run a speed test. No tracking, and settings never leave your machine.

Features & Capabilities

CacheCannon clears browser data and reloads the page in one click on the toolbar icon. No popup, no dialog, no trip through settings. Click, purge, reload, done.

It's built for web developers who clear cache fifty times a day, but anyone can use it.

Pick how hard it hits

  • Lite: cache only. You stay logged in everywhere.
  • Nuke: cache, cookies, local storage, IndexedDB, service workers and form data. The default.
  • Full Nuke: all of the above plus saved passwords, history and downloads. DEFCON 1.
  • Custom: pick exactly which data types get cleared and save it as your profile.
Full Nuke cannot fire by accident. You acknowledge a warning once, and even after that the icon arms on the first click and only fires if you click again within 4 seconds. Until then it just sits there with a red badge, judging you.

Purge one site or everything

"This site only" scope clears cookies, local storage, IndexedDB and service workers for the site in your active tab and touches nothing else. Fix one broken login without logging yourself out of the entire internet. You can also limit a purge to the last hour, 24 hours or 7 days.

Protected sites

Put hostnames on the protected list and site-scoped purges skip them entirely. One honest note: Firefox has no API for excluding specific sites from a global purge, so protection applies in "this site only" scope. If staying logged in somewhere matters to you, purge per-site.

After the purge

Pick what happens next: hard refresh the tab, reopen the page in a fresh tab, reopen it in a Private Window, close the window, or send the page straight to a speed test. PageSpeed Insights, GTmetrix, WebPageTest, Pingdom, DebugBear and Yellow Lab Tools are built in, or add your own tool URL. PageSpeed Insights and WebPageTest get the current page's URL pre-filled.

Reopening in a Private Window needs "Run in Private Windows" enabled for the extension (Firefox asks at install, or set it in about:addons). If it's off, CacheCannon tells you instead of failing silently.

The small stuff

  • Alt+Shift+C purges and reloads. Alt+Shift+S nukes just the current site.
  • Right-click the icon or any page for one-off actions.
  • Prefer buttons? Turn on the optional panel. It stays off by default because one click is the whole point.
  • Four themes: Matrix, Amber, Ice and Mono.
  • A green badge flash confirms each purge, and the options page keeps a purge counter.
  • Optional cannon sound. Off by default. You're welcome.
  • Export your settings to a JSON file and import them on another machine.
Privacy, the short version

No tracking, no analytics, no ads, no remote code, no host permissions. Settings live in local browser storage and never leave your machine. Full policy: cachecannon.com/privacy.html

Is CacheCannon Safe?

Risk impact
Risk impact measures the level of extra permissions an extension has access to. A low risk impact extension cannot do much harms, whereas a high risk impact extension can do a lot of damage like stealing your password, bypassing your security settings, and accessing your personal data. High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.

CacheCannon requires very minimum permissions.

Risk impact analysis details
