Features & Capabilities

The WD Purple Storage Calculator Chrome extension is a surveillance storage capacity estimator designed to help you determine the ideal storage size for your security system. By inputting parameters such as video resolution, frame rate, video retention length, and endurance, users can accurately calculate storage requirements for microSD cards and hard disk drives used in smart security setups.

This tool factors in key details for network video recorders (NVRs) including number of cameras, video quality, compression types (MJPEG, H.264, H.265), and system-specific configurations. It's an essential utility for anyone managing surveillance storage to optimize capacity and ensure efficient data retention without overspending on storage hardware. WD Purple Storage Calculator simplifies complex storage planning with an intuitive interface and precise recommendations based on Western Digital’s expertise.
