Blokhead Firefox

Blokhead

Blokhead is a website blocker for people who mean it. Paste a domain, set a schedule, lock it behind a PIN, and get back to whatever you were supposed to be doing. No cloud dashboard, no account sign-up, no surveillance

Features & Capabilities

WHAT IT DOES

  • Block sites by domain, wildcard, or regex.
  • Schedule rules by time of day — block social during work, leave evenings alone.
  • Managed mode with a PIN, so disabling the extension is deliberately annoying.
  • Patience Timer on the block page: wait out a countdown, earn a 5 or 10 minute unlock. No hacks, no workarounds, just earned time.
  • Stoic and fitness quote sets on the block page, plus a custom message slot.
  • Side panel for settings, so you're not juggling tabs to edit rules.
  • Works on Chrome, Firefox, Brave, and Edge. Safari, not yet.
WHY IT'S DIFFERENT

Your block list is yours. Blokhead stores rules, schedules, and theme preferences locally inside the extension. No account. No cloud sync. No analytics SDK phoning home. The only time Blokhead talks to a server is a single license-status check — that's it. We genuinely do not know which sites you're blocking at 2 p.m. on a Tuesday.

One plan, everything included. No starter tier with half the features missing so you upgrade out of frustration. No "teams" upsell you didn't ask for. No AI assistant bolted on for a press release.

And the PIN mode really does mean it. If you forget the PIN, you reinstall the extension. That friction is the feature, not a bug in the recovery flow.

SIX THEMES, NOT SIX SKINS

Blokhead ships with six cohesive themes that re-skin the popup, the side panel, and the block page together — so every surface matches instead of the usual half-baked dark mode situation.

  • Default — Swiss poster layout, cream and cobalt. Included free.
  • Night Shift — dark navy, cream ink. Pro.
  • Bohemian — parchment, sage, and rust. Pro.
  • Mythic West — dusk purple, amber sun, terra accents. Pro.
  • Kawaii — pastel pink with chunky outlines. Pro.
  • Coquette — cream editorial with a hot-pink accent. Pro.
Pick the one that matches your energy. The discipline is the same either way.

PRICING

Blokhead Pro is $2.99 per month. Seven-day free trial. Cancel anytime — no retention maze, no guilt-trip modal. Billing runs through Stripe, so we never touch your card details.

The Default theme is free. The other five themes and managed mode come with Pro.

PERMISSIONS, IN PLAIN ENGLISH

  • storage — saves your block lists, schedules, and settings locally in the browser.
  • declarativeNetRequest / declarativeNetRequestWithHostAccess — this is how the blocking actually happens, using Chrome's native network-rule API.
  • alarms — runs the schedules so rules turn on and off at the right times.
  • sidePanel — powers the side-panel settings UI.
  • host access on all URLs — required so blocks work everywhere on the web, not just on a shortlist of domains.
No data leaves your browser through any of these. Permissions do what the names say.

NOT A PARENTAL CONTROL SUITE

Blokhead is a self-discipline and focus tool. It is not a comprehensive parental control or monitoring solution. The extension can be disabled, uninstalled, or bypassed by anyone with access to the browser. Do not rely on it to enforce restrictions on another user. Managed mode adds friction; it is not a lock.

Is Blokhead Safe?

Risk impact
Risk impact measures the level of extra permissions an extension has access to. A low risk impact extension cannot do much harms, whereas a high risk impact extension can do a lot of damage like stealing your password, bypassing your security settings, and accessing your personal data. High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.

Blokhead requires a few sensitive permissions. Exercise caution before installing.

Risk likelihood measures the probability that a Firefox add-on may turn malicious. This is determined by the publisher and the Firefox add-on reputation on Firefox Add-ons Store, the amount of time the Firefox add-on has been around, and other signals about the Firefox add-on. Our algorithms are not perfect, and are subject to change as we discover new ways to detect malicious extensions. We recommend that you always exercise caution when installing a Firefox add-on.

Blokhead is recently added, and hasn't been around long enough for us to gather enough data to accurately assess its risk level.
