BlockURL

Blocks specific pages and URLs with the click of a button

Features & Capabilities

BlockURL is a powerful Firefox extension designed to block specific URLs or pages, not just entire domains or subdomains. This unique feature allows users to precisely control access to particular articles, videos, or pages they've visited. With a user-friendly interface, BlockURL supports one-click blocking and offers import/export capabilities for managing custom block lists.

Backing the extension is a Python Flask Sync Server hosted on DockerHub, enabling seamless synchronization of block lists across multiple devices. Additional features include configurable blocked page messages and unlimited block list storage, making BlockURL an efficient tool for personalized web content control.

User Reviews

Unfortunately, this extension doesn't actually block the link (at least not in the same way ad blockers do). It just displays a pop-up window informing you that the page is blocked. In devtools->network, I still see the page's traffic after the blocking message. P.S. If this is helpful, the server can also be installed using the windows version of Python. However, you need to add DATABASE_PATH = path to the .db database to your environment variables.
