User Reviews
Pros
- Effectively removes distractions on cluttered websites for a cleaner reading experience.
- Provides a faster and simpler alternative to using element pickers like in uBlock Origin.
- Works exactly as described on compatible sites according to some users.
Cons
- Fails to automatically open some sites in reader view despite being enabled.
- Does not work reliably on several popular sites such as Reuters.
- Users need to manually reload pages in reader view as the add-on sometimes does not activate automatically.

Works as advertised! I have been using for ages.
If it is not working for you then the website does not support reader mode, there is another add on that you can use to force the reader mode too.
But no issue with this add on :)

Didn't work. I selected a site to automatically open in reader view, then opened that site from a reddit link, and the site opened in normal view rather than reader view. Then I reloaded the page and again it opened in normal view even thought the "Auto Reader View" icon had a green checkmark. So instead I manually reloaded the site in reader view using the Firefox reader view icon near the right of the address bar. Then I removed the Auto Reader View extension. So it goes.

Is Auto Reader View Safe?
Risk impact
Risk impact measures the level of extra permissions an extension has access to. A low risk impact extension cannot do much harms, whereas a high risk impact extension can do a lot of damage like stealing your password, bypassing your security settings, and accessing your personal data. High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.
Auto Reader View requires a few sensitive permissions. Exercise caution before installing.
Risk impact analysis details

Risk likelihood
Risk likelihood measures the probability that a Firefox add-on may turn malicious. This is determined by the publisher and the Firefox add-on reputation on Firefox Add-ons Store, the amount of time the Firefox add-on has been around, and other signals about the Firefox add-on. Our algorithms are not perfect, and are subject to change as we discover new ways to detect malicious extensions. We recommend that you always exercise caution when installing a Firefox add-on.
