The extension will take following permissions to conduct a fair olympiad exam -

The extension take tabs permission to close all the other tabs opened in the browser before starting the exam and to restrict the user to open any other tab or window.
The extension take the active tab permission to ensure that the user doesn't leave our tab while giving the olympiad, and if they go then to warn the user.
