Review summary

User reviews mainly report stability issues: the app crashes on startup or fails to open across Android versions (13–16) and various devices, with many saying it stops after launch or won’t load. Several comments hint it may be abandoned or poorly maintained. While a minority recalls it being excellent for Linux control on a phone, the current releases are unreliable. The core idea is solid, but ongoing compatibility and maintenance problems dominate the feedback.
Pros
  • Historically strong tool for controlling a Linux setup from a phone, when it works.
  • Some reviewers have praised it as the best app for Linux-control on a mobile device when functional.
Cons
  • Crashes on startup/launch across Android versions 13–16 on multiple devices.
  • App keeps stopping or won't open after splash screen on Android 11–14.
  • Perceived lack of maintenance or abandonment; users question whether it will be updated.
  • Compatibility issues with newer Android versions/devices (e.g., Galaxy S22/S23, Redmi Note 12).
  • Missing features (e.g., no Chromecast TV display support) and general demand for better cross-device support.

Functional but only for older devices; due to recent security updates across android and linux most newer devices wont be able to use this, your better off finding older versions 1.20.41 or older and trying those first..

It doesn't seem to work on my phone, but the real problem is: why is there no TV version? I'd like to use my Chromecast TV as an x-display, which makes perfect sense. Using my phone as a display makes little sense, yet there's a phone version but not one for the TV.

Used to work a few years ago, now it errors, doesn't remember where to store data, and copies some command line (involving Firefox and xfce, maybe it's the reason behind the error, as there's no Firefox or xfce for it to launch on Android) to the Android clipboard
