Writepat Firefox

Writepat

WritePat - securely links your Substack session to WritePat so you can auto-publish Notes from your WritePat dashboard.

Features & Capabilities

WritePat is a companion extension for WritePat (writepat.com), a newsletter-to-social publishing platform. Substack has no official public API, so this extension reads your existing Substack session cookie (while you're logged in at substack.com) and securely relays it to your WritePat account over an authenticated, HTTPS connection. This lets WritePat publish Notes on your behalf from its scheduling and content queue.

The extension does not collect, store, or transmit any data beyond the session identifier needed to authenticate your Substack account with WritePat. No browsing history, analytics, or third-party data sharing is involved.

Permissions used:

  • cookies: read the Substack session cookie (substack.sid) to authenticate the connection
  • storage: store a local development/base-URL preference
  • host_permissions (substack.com, writepat.com): required to read the Substack cookie and communicate with your WritePat account

Is Writepat Safe?

Risk impact
Risk impact measures the level of extra permissions an extension has access to. A low risk impact extension cannot do much harms, whereas a high risk impact extension can do a lot of damage like stealing your password, bypassing your security settings, and accessing your personal data. High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.

Writepat requires a few sensitive permissions. Exercise caution before installing.
