WikiTrace Firefox

WikiTrace

Track, archive and visualise every Wikipedia page you visit.

Features & Capabilities

WikiTrace automatically records every Wikipedia article you visit and builds a permanent visual archive — no account or login required.

Features: • Graph view — force-directed D3.js graph with colour-coded category clusters and navigation edges between related pages • List view — sortable and filterable table of all visited pages • Reading list — save any page for later with custom categories • 3 save modes: automatic, on scroll-to-bottom, or manual only • Wikipedia categories fetched automatically for clustering • Custom site tracking — track pages on any website, not just Wikipedia • Batch URL import — add multiple Wikipedia URLs at once • Export / Import — full JSON backup and restore • Cross-device sync — via private GitHub Gist (no server needed) • Dark and light theme

All data is stored locally in your browser. No telemetry, no external services except Wikipedia's public category API and optional GitHub Gist sync (only when you explicitly connect a token).

Is WikiTrace Safe?

Risk impact
Risk impact measures the level of extra permissions an extension has access to. A low risk impact extension cannot do much harms, whereas a high risk impact extension can do a lot of damage like stealing your password, bypassing your security settings, and accessing your personal data. High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.

WikiTrace requires some sensitive permissions that could impact your browser and data security. Exercise caution before installing.

Risk likelihood
Risk likelihood measures the probability that a Firefox add-on may turn malicious. This is determined by the publisher and the Firefox add-on reputation on Firefox Add-ons Store, the amount of time the Firefox add-on has been around, and other signals about the Firefox add-on. Our algorithms are not perfect, and are subject to change as we discover new ways to detect malicious extensions. We recommend that you always exercise caution when installing a Firefox add-on.

WikiTrace is recently added, and hasn't been around long enough for us to gather enough data to accurately assess its risk level.
