Wikipedia mobile version

Immediately redirects all requests to Wikipedia and Wikitionary pages to the mobile version of the site.

The mobile-optimised pages of Wikimedia sites are often easier to read than the desktop version. With this extension, when you visit the desktop version of a Wikipedia or Wiktionary article (or any article on a Wikimedia site), you will be taken to the mobile-optimised version of that page instead.

For example, if you visit https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Photosynthesis you will be taken to https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Photosynthesis. If you visit https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/botany you will be taken to https://en.m.wiktionary.org/wiki/botany. The exception to this is if you are editing an article. In that case you will be taken to the desktop version of the site, which you may find easier to use and more fully-featured when editing.

You can control this extension with the toolbar menu, which allows you to switch it on or off, and whether it should take you to the desktop version to edit an article.

Version 1.3.1 respects the mobile/desktop link at the bottom of Wikimedia pages, and redirects Wikimedia pages to the appropriate version when you enable or disable the extension.

Extension safety

Risk impact
Risk impact measures the level of extra permissions an extension has access to. A low risk impact extension cannot do much harms, whereas a high risk impact extension can do a lot of damage like stealing your password, bypassing your security settings, and accessing your personal data. High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.

Wikipedia mobile version requires some sensitive permissions that could impact your browser and data security. Exercise caution before installing.

This is determined by the publisher and the Firefox add-on reputation on Firefox Browser Add-ons, the amount of time the Firefox add-on has been around, and other signals about the Firefox add-on. Our algorithms are not perfect, and are subject to change as we discover new ways to detect malicious extensions. We recommend that you always exercise caution when installing a Firefox add-on.

Wikipedia mobile version has earned a fairly good reputation and likely can be trusted.
