WhatIP

Shows IP of host in current tab with latest webExt tech. Intend to replace the old showIP add-on and maybe flagfox if not updated before November. ;) (Written all by myself from scratch, feel free to fork, comment, suggest.)

WhatIP is a lightweight Chrome extension that enhances your browsing by showing the IP address version connected to the current webpage directly within the address bar. It displays an icon indicating whether you're connected via IPv4 or IPv6, with tooltips revealing the precise IP address of the host for the main webpage structure. Clicking the icon opens a new tab to perform detailed IP lookups on DomainTools, but only when the IP is defined.

The extension is designed to replace older tools like showIP or Flagfox, utilizing the latest WebExtension technologies for seamless performance. It carefully manages permissions and updates IP information dynamically, ensuring accuracy even with local or undefined schemes. WhatIP is open-source, inviting contributions and improvements from the community. This extension is ideal for users curious about the network details of websites they visit, offering quick, informative insights right in the browser UI.

High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.

WhatIP requires some sensitive permissions that could impact your browser and data security. Exercise caution before installing.
