Touch Typing: Speed Lessons

Touch Typing: Speed Lessons is a practice space for typing without looking at the keyboard. Keep your eyes on the text, let your fingers find the keys, and use short timed sessions to turn accurate touch typing into real speed.

Learning to touch type is mostly about repetition and honest feedback. This app gives you both: focused practice material, a timer that starts with your first key, and a clear result after every session. It does not draw finger charts or teach key positions; it is the place you come to practise them until they stick.

WHO IT IS FOR
• Anyone who has learned home-row basics and now needs daily practice to build speed.
• Tablet and phone users with a Bluetooth or USB keyboard who want to stop glancing down.
• Writers, coders and students who type for hours and want fewer corrections.
• People learning to type in a second language such as Vietnamese, Spanish, Indonesian, Portuguese or Hindi.

A LESSON PLAN WITH THE BUILT-IN MODES
1. Start with Common words at 30 seconds. Aim for accuracy above 95% before chasing speed.
2. Move to Punctuation to bring capitals, commas, quotes and brackets under your fingers.
3. Add Numbers to train the top row without looking.
4. Switch to Paragraphs at 60 or 120 seconds to build a steady rhythm through real sentences.
5. Finish the week with an Exam: a long plain-text passage with no colour hints, the true test of typing blind.
Any length from 10 seconds to 10 minutes can be set when a lesson needs to be shorter or longer.

FEEDBACK THAT KEEPS YOUR EYES UP
• Turn on a short vibration for every wrong key, so you notice a slip without looking at the keyboard.
• Hide the live speed counter if it pulls your attention away from the text.
• Each word is scored separately, so one wrong letter costs only that word and a stray space does not throw off what follows.
• After each session you see net and gross words per minute, accuracy, errors, characters typed and time.

TRACK ACCURACY AS CLOSELY AS SPEED
• Separate charts for speed and accuracy across your last 30 sessions show whether you are getting faster without getting sloppier.
• A daily challenge, set at 90% of your best speed with at least 90% accuracy, keeps your practice regular.
• A 12-week activity map and a streak counter show how consistent you have been.
• Badges include Sharpshooter for 98% accuracy over a minute, plus 40, 60, 80 and 100 words per minute at 90% accuracy.

BRING YOUR OWN LESSONS
Paste any passage into My texts: a chapter you are studying, code snippets, a list of tricky words or a sample from a typing course. Each saved text becomes a timed lesson you can repeat until your accuracy is consistent.

WORKS WITH REAL KEYBOARDS
Physical keyboards over Bluetooth or USB are fully supported, in portrait or landscape. Connecting a keyboard or rotating the device mid-session keeps your progress.

PERMISSIONS EXPLAINED
Only two permissions are used. Internet is for ads, Google Play purchases and anonymous usage and crash statistics. Vibration is for the optional wrong-key feedback. There is no accessibility service, no screen overlay and no access to contacts, files or location.

ADS AND PREMIUM
Every mode, length, language and badge is free, with 7 days of history and 3 saved texts. The free version shows ads, but never during a session or on your result. Premium is an optional monthly or yearly subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase. It removes ads, keeps unlimited history with CSV export, allows unlimited saved lessons in My texts, and unlocks custom exams of 5 to 30 minutes with backspace locked or allowed and colour hints on or off. A subscription renews automatically until you cancel it in Google Play.

PRIVACY
You do not need an account. Your sessions, streak and saved texts are stored on your device only, and nothing you type is uploaded.

Eyes on the screen, not the keys: each lesson makes you a little faster and more accurate.
