The developer pushes out their work without really checking it at all beforehand. I've had trouble with this on different platforms and browsers (claimed to be supported), where the code was so bad it would just crash on launch, or it might work until you actually try to order something. That hasn't happened lately, but the new VH Monitor 4.0 has never worked for me since it was pushed out a few weeks ago. Monitor 3.0 still works fine most of the time, but sometimes disconnects saying there's some sort of contention with another user. (I am only running one instance.) The error I get on 4.0 is that it cannot connect to the VH websocket. (Only one instance is running.) I've tried 4.0 a few times, and just tried it again after the May 27th update (yesterday), but it still doesn't work at all. I've noticed that the new IP addresses for the VH server resolve to cloudflare instead of OVH as they previously did. This seems odd for something with an active server on the backend. AFAIK, 4.0 and 3.0 should be using the same server, so I've got no idea why one would work and the other would not. My use is casual, and I should probably donate. The tiered features look interesting, but I don't use it enough to pay enough to get them, so motivation to donate is low.

VineHelper used to be good.. Now they are slowly putting every single part of it that was good behind a paywall. Injecting their own affiliate links, ads, all kinds of garbage. On top of doing this, the extension now drasticly ramps up load times, causes the browser to siphon huge amounts of ram, and in general, it's gotten worse with every update for the last 3 or 4 updates. Uninstalling, because doing things manually is now faster and more convenient that this garbage.

Is VHelper Safe?

Risk impact
Risk impact measures the level of extra permissions an extension has access to. A low risk impact extension cannot do much harms, whereas a high risk impact extension can do a lot of damage like stealing your password, bypassing your security settings, and accessing your personal data. High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.

VHelper requires a lot of sensitive permissions. Exercise caution before installing.

Risk likelihood measures the probability that a Firefox add-on may turn malicious. This is determined by the publisher and the Firefox add-on reputation on Firefox Add-ons Store, the amount of time the Firefox add-on has been around, and other signals about the Firefox add-on. Our algorithms are not perfect, and are subject to change as we discover new ways to detect malicious extensions. We recommend that you always exercise caution when installing a Firefox add-on.

VHelper is probably trust-worthy. Prefer other publishers if available. Exercise caution when installing this add-on.
